 is back in Enschede, and we are excited to host the 2026 edition at GrensFrequentie. Three days of creating, experimenting, learning, and meeting fellow game makers: the perfect way to kick off the year.

On Friday 30th, we’ll start together with the official GGJ kickoff: the global video keynote, the reveal of the secret theme, and a few 

 to spark unconventional ideas and playful approaches.

The Global Game Jam (GGJ) is a worldwide event where people come together to create games in a short time, based on a shared theme revealed at the start of the jam. In just a few days, teams all over the world work in parallel to turn ideas into playable games.

You don’t need to be a programmer to join, 

storytellers, designers, artists, musicians, writers, tinkerers, and curious minds are all welcome

. Come with a team or solo; we actively encourage collaboration and team-building on site. You can 

 to meet other jammers, form teams, and connect before the jam starts.

The most important rules: experiment, collaborate, and have fun.

Global Game Jam 2026 @Sickhouse 

You already know the story: after two years of nomadic existence and what sometimes felt like endless struggle, Sickhouse is opening the doors to its new home and we are thrilled to invite you to our 

housewarming celebration on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 of February.

, hence, for this double celebration, we invite you to discover the potential of this new space over two days. Expect games in surprising places, films both inside and outside the cinema, new arcades in the Playground, and archive materials spread throughout the rooms. You’ll find interactive panels on feminist practices, alternative technologies, and cultural spaces, alongside intimate performances and music to inaugurate the dance floor.

During the opening, we’ll celebrate and reflect on art spaces and communities through a documentary project by photographer 

, a playful intervention by artist-in-residence 

 , and a curated selection of games. Sound artist 

 will also present a new interactive version of her installation 

, we’ll host a dive-in program developed with 

 focusing on feminism, alternative tech, activism within playful practices, and digital culture. The day will also include official opening moments, group hugs, multiplayer challenges, music, and confetti.

, after a special French film screening for kids, we’ll continue with workshops, games, music, dancing, and close the night with a

Sickhouse Reopening Two-Days Celebration

Together with Sound Unbound we invite you to discover the wonderful sounds of Maggie. Join us for an evening of experimental noise/drone created with a modified violin. Lena C. comes for support for a magical and transporting moment. 



 is an experimental musician, sound artist, and sound engineer based in the Netherlands. From her background in classical violin and fine art, she found her way into expanded sonic approaches as part of the Sonology course at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague. She utilities electro-acoustic methods – including her custom-built electric violin – to generate bristling, layered electronic textures. Her noise-filled sound works emerge from the flux and chaos of the world.



 is a Taiwanese sound artist based in Enschede, Netherlands. She explores sound and interdisciplinary art through artistic research as well as live performance and free improvisation in electronic music, composition for visual art and installations. Her research interests revolve around themes of relationality between individuals and natural phenomena, posthumanism, and the influence of technology and media on human experience.

COLLIDERS is our monthly meet-up for playful makers, enthusiasts, producers, artists, curators, and all people interested in game making. At Colliders we brainstorm, present our progress, give feedback, enjoy creations and, of course, we play!

Colliders purpose is to develop a local network around indie/arthouse game makers and playful artists. With Colliders, we want to support each other and create more opportunities for collaborations and exchange.

Come together to our Tabletop Game Nights and play everything you can play on a table: RPGs, board games, one shots, folk games, DnD and so on. Hosted by our amazing Puck.

We organize two game nights per month, usually one on a Friday and one on a Saturday.

+ We always count with RPG tables, hosted by a member of our community or by a special guest.
+ You can as well find open tables to play some board games.
+ Come alone or in group. Playing is a great way to make new friends ;)
+ Bring your favorite games and share them with us, or discover new games from our collection.

TableTop Game Night (CANCELLED)

Step into a world where stories come alive: the Central Library of Enschede transforms for one night into an enchanted realm filled with tabletop gaming, creative workshops, and fantastic stories.

And of course, Sickhouse will be there to add a touch of playful magic! 🧵
Join us at the Crafty Corner (maakplaats) and create your own fantastic character, banner or kitbash. We’ll have sewing machines, materials, and guidance to help you design and craft your own costume details. Whether you’re an experienced maker or a total beginner, our team will help your imagination take shape, one thread at a time.

A Night at the Enchanted Library

Sickhouse is back at the Rijksmuseum Twenthe. After several playful collaborations (from 

 to workshops and experimental takeovers) we’re once again stepping into the halls for a night of RMT, the museum’s evening program for young people.

Come together to create a digital garden inspired by the nature surrounding the museum. After 3D scanning natural elements, we'll collaboratively create a digital environment by moving, rotating, and scaling them in a shared space. The "garden" will later be accessible online, allowing everyone to wander around and leave a whisper.
