Cinema Obscura : 8 1/2 by Federico Fellini
On April 24th we’re presenting an Italian classic from Fellini : 8 1/2.
Film : 8½ (Italian: Otto e mezzo) is a 1963 avant-garde comedy-drama film directed and co-written by Federico Fellini. A film about Fellini's alter ego, the director Guido Anselmi (Marcello Mastroianni), who is in an artistic crisis. Just before filming begins, the director, who has retreated to a spa, decides to make his lack of inspiration the subject of the film. Enter Fellini's dreams…
Side program : Cinema Obscura starts with a side program to help immerse ourselves in the film and connect with each other before entering the film itself. Expect crafting, soft role play and discussion. This month it is all about becoming a black and white character of a collective dream…
ABOUT : Cinema Obscura is a curated film screening program focused on cult, experimental, and unconventional cinema.
In the early days, the films were never announced in advance and the spectators discover them either through the introduction by the organizers or even during the screening itself.
The program is challenging, controversial and unique. Each screening is meant to be a special experience, beginning at the moment you sit down in our vintage cinema chairs from 1936. You are invited to react, interact, discuss, scream, laugh and embrace the shared discovery of strange films.
Cinema Obscura will run throughout the year with a monthly screening. Some films will be announced, some will remain a mystery…
