Sickhouse Reopening Two-Days Celebration

You already know the story: after two years of nomadic existence and what sometimes felt like endless struggle, Sickhouse is opening the doors to its new home and we are thrilled to invite you to our housewarming celebration on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 of February.

This moment coincides with Sickhouse 8th anniversary, hence, for this double celebration, we invite you to discover the potential of this new space over two days. Expect games in surprising places, films both inside and outside the cinema, new arcades in the Playground, and archive materials spread throughout the rooms. You’ll find interactive panels on feminist practices, alternative technologies, and cultural spaces, alongside intimate performances and music to inaugurate the dance floor.

During the opening, we’ll celebrate and reflect on art spaces and communities through a documentary project by photographer Tessa Wiegerinck and creative thinker Samantha Valenzuela, a playful intervention by artist-in-residence Paulina Martínez , and a curated selection of games. Sound artist Maggie Ghaziani will also present a new interactive version of her installation Quasar, adapted especially for Sickhouse.

On Friday, we’ll host a dive-in program developed with Patyt Reyes, focusing on feminism, alternative tech, activism within playful practices, and digital culture. The day will also include official opening moments, group hugs, multiplayer challenges, music, and confetti.

On Saturday, after a special French film screening for kids, we’ll continue with workshops, games, music, dancing, and close the night with a midnight cinema screening.

These two days are about celebrating, reconnecting, and dreaming together about all the ways this new space can be used for art, culture, and community.
